Stuart Mahowald from Minnesota hit me up a week or so ago to share his new patented box joint jig. Wait until you see what it does.
There are many ways to make finger joints for boxes. Just Google “box joint jig” and you'll find all kinds of instructions for building custom sleds and such. Stuart's jig does all four sides at once and the setup is easier than anything I've ever seen. A clamp holds all four pieces and at the same time offsets two of them. Adjustable sliders fit a variety of track set-ups on a table saw or router table. Then, depending on the size of your dado set or router bit, the boards are shifted over and locked in place by a spring loaded pin for each new pass.
Stuart is in the process of manufacturing these for sale so please feel free to leave comments on his Facebook Page. This is a fool-proof, bomb-proof jig for doing complete boxes in under 15 minutes. Just watch the video…
